Open University Malaysia's Masters in Counseling under the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences (FASS) seeks to fulfill some of these demands. The programme provides graduate students with in-depth knowledge and skills training in professional counselling.

Coming from a developing country itself, the university understands the knowledge needs of these nations, which are often unable to meet the domestics demand for tertiary education.

Pengajaran dan modul yang diberikan kepada pelajar ketika mendaftar adalah dalam bahasa inggeris. Dengan itu, OUM memberi pilihan kepada pelajar sama ada hendak menggunakan bahasa melayu ataupun bahasa inggeris ketika menduduki peperiksaan.
